One And One Make Three

Two souls come together
A girl and a boy
Their love creates
A bundle of joy
Loving each other
From the very start
Will make it so easy
To open your heart
It will open wide
When your baby is born
All that love helps
When your tired and worn
Those sleepless nights
Will go by so fast
And the terrible twos!
They too shall pass
Each day will bring
Something brand new
They will become
Memories for you
Baby is sleeping
It's time for his nap
A hour just for us
Come sit on my lap
Hug each other
Hold on real tight
It's going to be
Another sleepless night
Save his first tooth
Bronze his first shoe
Keep his first curl
They are memories for you
Before you know it
He's a baby no more
He's heading for college
Out your front door
Always love your baby
Show him that you do.
Throughout his lifetime
He'll give it back to you.

I love this and what is says in such a simple way and a suttle rhyme. I think the form could be better I kinda hurt the eyes and got lost with all in one place, but this is a good piece. Thanks for sharing these warm lines with us. UNT

Bravo! Bravo! I really enjoyed how this piece flowed... and the meaning behind it as well. I mean, babies are so precious. I wish I could have a baby brother someday... or a baby sister, but mom and dad say that I'm enough. That's like... so uncool. Totally awesome poem.

I love the ideas you have woven into this poem, the sentiments are beautiful and the gift of life is obvious within. I would have liked to have seen the poem flow from birth to adult hood in a even flow rather than the back and forth theme you have chosen but you have done such a lovely piece here.
    Good luck in the contest
