The dogwoods are bloomin among the Kentucky pines,
And the azaleas are blushing by the door
The mockingbirds are chirping in morning glory vines
It's a Kentucky Springtime once more
That old tired coon dog is snapping at a fly
And a kitten chases the sumbeams cross the floor
Pretty girls are a primping in a window passing by
It's a Kentucky Springtime once more
Last week there was tornadoes, thunderstorms and such
When that siren goes off then we worry much~
There's southern hospitality when neighbors come to call
And folks can't help but smile
When they ask how are you all?
It's Springtime in Kentucky
Once again you see
For a Kentucky Springtime
Is a must you must see!

We really do live in a beautiful state sis. Your poem just reminded me of how much I love Kentucky. Nothing else would ever feel like home.

-
It sounds beautiful there in springtime.

I was raised in a neighbor state, WV. This is a very good description of Ky. and an excellent write. Very good.

Nostalgic.....
Can't help but to think of a country song as my eyes travel down this page.
Well-written notions bring the season to life - the imagery is clear, and the flow? Fluid.
I absoultely find myself adoring this line:
"And the azaleas are blushing by the door"
Near tears with that line. So very Lovable. Mmmmm.
Love & Blessings,

A beautiful snapshot of Kentucky in the Spring...just what we need now after a long, cold winter! You've succeeded in bringing in so many sights and sounds that give us a wonderful taste of Springtime in your neck of the woods. I loved these lines: "And the azaleas are blushing by the door" and "That old tired coon dog is snapping at a fly". Great imagery, Susan! BTW, my husband's aunt lives in Paducah...anywhere near you?

It isn't springtime, obviously, as we are headed into autumn, but I am going to post this poem on Poetry Planet tonight because it is irrestibly lovely. Thank you for allowing me to put your poems in my 'lil poetry pocket and thrill the people worldwide with your sweet mind.

Woohoooo!!
Woohooo, I just simply adore this. I'm a bluegrass die hard and you just know Kentucky is mentioned in those songs!! This would be a terrific bluegrass tune!
Awesome Write!!! -
Sounds like a wonderful place to be in the spring. I've been to Kentucky many times, as I have a brother living near Guthrie. Kentucky is a beautiful state, I must admit. I love Indiana, but I think Kentucky has more to offer in scenic beauty.
Best wishes,
