While working on a September day
something happened that won`t go away,
a moment in history too dark to understand
took so many lives in a far off land.
images of that fateful day
still fresh in my mind,
how could any living soul
be so cold and unkind.
I am haunted by history
and could not stop my tears,
life seemed so perfect`
now the world lives in fear.
the people in those building
and people waiting at home,
waiting for the phone to ring and
fearing the worst` a future all alone.
for every passing year
my heart weeps for those lost,
any family losing someone`
it must seem a heavy cost.
every day that passes
history lets us know,
we are not here forever
as that moment shows.

My Gosh Carl,this is splendid!!!! I've read many poems on 9/11 and this ranks at the top of my list.
I will never forget.I left my house just before it happenned and found out on reaching my destination. I fell to my knees praying for God to have mercy on everybody's soul.9/11 marks the day that the sense of security I had always had living in this country went away and it will never be regained again.

Carl , I believe the entire world is haunted by the images of that horrible day . This is something I feel I wanted to maybe read in a history book instead of being so closely tied to it , because of the job i had at that time . However my feelings also are that right now we are going about it all wrong in our "an eye for an eye" attitude . Does not make us much better then THEM in my eyes , as we are retaliating by killing innocent victims too
