The Last Song of Juan Diego
Goodbye, Juan Diego,
Goodbye, Charlie Brown.
The soldiers and guns,
Are coming to town.
Goodbye, Sol Lolita,
Goodbye, Daisy Mae.
The war and the warriors,
Are headed your way.
With hoods on their heads,
Their justice is blind,
They can’t look around,
Their honor to find.
Yippi-ti-yi-yippi,
Yippi-ti-yi-yo,
The soldiers are coming,
There’s no place to go.
Yippi-ti-yi-yippi,
Yippi-ti-yi-yay,
The war and the warriors
Are headed our way.
Goodbye, Freddie Fender,
Goodbye, Johnny Cash.
On the streets of our town,
The armies will clash.
Goodbye, Hera Linda,
Goodbye, Betsy Ross.
The soldiers are coming,
To show you who’s boss.
There’s blood in the streets,
There’s blood on our hands.
It runs down our legs,
And colors the sands.
Yippi-ti-yi-yippi,
Yippi-ti-yi-yo,
The soldiers are coming,
There’s no place to go.
Yippi-ti-yi-yippi,
Yippi-ti-yi-yay,
The war and the warriors
Are headed our way.
Goodbye, mi amigos,
Goodbye, closest friends,
As you can plainly see,
The war never ends.
Goodbye, mi amoras,
Goodbye, my lost loves,
The soldiers are coming,
To kill us in droves.
The wars, they never end,
Only pause for a while,
Then start once again,
To kill rank and file.
Yippi-ti-yi-yippi,
Yippi-ti-yi-yo,
The soldiers are coming,
There’s no place to go.
Yippi-ti-yi-yippi,
Yippi-ti-yi-yay,
The war and the warriors
Are headed our way.
Goodbye, Rey Gonzales,
Goodbye, Peter Gunn,
The soldiers are shooting,
And there’s no place to run.
Goodbye, Carmelita,
Goodbye, Edith Head,
The warriors are coming,
To make sure you’re dead.
They gave up their conscience,
To go fight for the man,
Kill women and children,
It’s just part of the plan.
Yippi-ti-yi-yippi,
Yippi-ti-yi-yo,
The soldiers are coming,
There’s no place to go.
Yippi-ti-yi-yippi,
Yippi-ti-yi-yay,
The war and the warriors
Are headed our way.
Now we’re all dead,
And the soldiers have gone,
To find another place,
To wreak their havoc on.
Yippi-ti-yi-yippi,
Yippi-ti-yi-yo,
It’s all over now,
To heaven we will go.
Yippi-ti-yi-yippi,
Yippi-ti-yi-yay,
I hope that none of you,
Will have to die this way.
[Goodbye all]

i thought this was pretty interesting. the other day, i was viewing a website where you can look at pictures of soldiers/civilians who have died already during this iraq war thing. man alive, i tell you. it was kind of chilling and disturbing to realize i was ordering pizza in window and looking at the dead in another.
i don't know how i feel about all this stuff, to be honest. it's not a political stance i could really comment on but i think you've done pretty will with the subject.

Good rhymes! Great write! Very well written! Keep it up!

Good rhythm and rhyme. War perpetuates itself- No cause that results in the death of innocent can be worthy. Very well written.

Hiya Brazos.
Boy did I enjoy this piece, of course I'm a sucker for a good rhyme so what can I say. Recognize most of those names up there but where's good ole Mary McVee? Yep it's a gooder.
