A Picture Speaks

A thousand words a picture speaks
a lost memory, a place in time
can be filled with so much mystique
Something that fills you with internal rhyme
Thoughts that to you alone are unique.

I looked at a picture of you today
and so many words came rushing to my head
Your smile, oh how that did betray
along with your words that you so easily said
Words that always led my mind astray.

I know that I should be willing to forgive
and get past all the hurt I consumed
Knowing that I'll never allow myself to relive
a relationship that was so fiercely doomed
the one in which you took all that I had to give.

My life is going on and my face is smiling
there is so much living that I've yet to do
The many travel brochures I'm compiling
Planning for a trip that is so long overdue
I'm ready to pick up the phone and start dialing.

Hopefully I will meet that special one
who will help to keep this smile on my face
The one that will have all my days filled with the sun
allowing this willing heart of mine to embrace
her soul, her love, her femininity
let it all fall in to place
forever and all eternity.

Blaze, it will happen! You will find that special someone only meant for you. I did. Took a long time, but I knew it when it happened. You'll just know! Smile and trust your heart again. Move into that future with peace.--Kelly

Blaze, this is exquisite. It flows nice and has a wonderful quality of being sort of sad, but hopeful. Wistful, but knowing there is something better on the horizon... emotional, but tender in how it's presented. Really enjoyed this. x

Great poem, thoughts from the heart. Hurt fades slowly, but may yours fade rapidly. I enjoyed your sharing. Also, thanks for reading my Haiku, and commenting. I will be reading more of your works.

WaryDreamer I actually started thinking about it when I was cleaning out a drawer this past weekend, the first line came to me and then it just went from there, those memories would have been nightmares that kept me awake, good memories seem to keep me at peace and is much better for my sleep.Thank you for the WOW.

Nell said that quite well. WOW! That rhyme scheme must have kept you up late...but then you were probably awake anyway with the memories. *smile* m
