It does not do to dwell on dreams,
Especially those of the unchangeable past.
If you can't find the will to move on,
Take a deep breath and take baby steps.

One reaches for a dream, and watches it slip through their fingers. Yet where would we be without dreams.

This is true and its always bad to dwell on things because they dont help your future or where you are going.... Dragonia

Wow. Short and simple, but yet, beautiful. But while being simple, this is also a couragous and brave statement. I know I need to learn to do that. Thank you.

I don't know if you saw the comment I posted in reply to "WarriorofGod" but my philosiphy on what i was writing is that I am all for learning from the past, a lot of people make the same mistake not just once and twice after the first time, but sometimes three and four times maybe more! I'm not saying that you have to forget about the past, but if you are dwelling on dreams or the past or something that you can 't let go of and it is making you not able to improve your life, or it is holding you back, you've just got to move on. You can't sit there and have that one event/situation ruin your life... people make mistakes, and that was what i was trying to get at, the fact that people make mistakes, but sometimes that is all they ever think about and they don't plan ahead for the future. It is great to dream and plan, but if they are just nightmares of the past or if it is something you are constantly distracted by a dream about something like a lost loved one constantly... i'd rather you be at peace about it and take comfort instead of dwelling on it and wishing that "if only" kinda sorta thing... Anyways, I respect your comment and thank you, and if it was just a misunderstanding, I hope i cleared it up.

I agree that we can't dwell on the past because we cannot change it, however I do think that our past can have a significant impact on what our future may have to offer whether good or bad. It is often our past we learn from and our future we are educating ourselves for in the present. well written...hope to see more in the future so I can see how this progresses.

This was cool...it was simple but held a lot of knowledge within it. Great words of advice here! Awesome job!

hmm this is the first time i've seen your comment, but let me clarify something. When I said "It does not do to dwell on dreams" I didn't mean, you cant think back on them and try to learn from them, but if that is all you ever think about, then how can you move on? I always try to analyze things that have happened, situations, feelings, what not. But if you 'dwell' on it as i've said- it will only dig you a hole that it would be hard to get out of. Dreams are amazing things, you can look to them as inspirations or goals for the future, you've just got to be careful. anyways, thats my point of view, if you still disagree that's alright with me. Just as long as it isn't a misunderstanding!

Very well done.
I very much agree with what you are saying. We shoud not dwell in the past. But we must though look to it to know what mistakes we have made ot avoid committing others. But you made a very strong point. -
Great write!! We should always try to not dwell on the past.. The past can't be changed so just worry about the future.. good job and God bless!!

Yes, as sadelmann says, these are wise words. In Chinese wisdom it is said; 'do not be scared to be timid', and you have found that in your poem, for yourself.

There is a lot of wisdome in these few words. I like the alliteration of the first line. Nice work.

Yep, one step at a time don't want to fall into those little holes.
Nice piece.

I agree about the future part of the poem, I do believe I will change that, the future is unpredictable, but that doesn't mean we can't dream about making it better. thank you for your critiques!

I see your point on why we should not dwell on dreams of the unchangable past, because we cannot change the past. But we can change the future. True, we should not dream about how glorious it will be, because we will surely be dissapointed. I love the last part of it. About the baby steps. Sometimes that's all a human can do. I had to read this poem several times, but I see a certian depth to it. Nice.

I disagree. True, we must'nt worry over the unchangeble, but we must look to our past and future to know from wence we came and to where we go.
