Sleeping Love- A Lullaby

Sleeping one, it's time to rise,
To open up those heavy eyes
So they are no longer hid
Underneath each lazy lid.

Sleeping babe, it's time to wake;
All the day you like to take
To lay inside your nice, warm bed
As peaceful as a rose is red.

Sleeping child, I like to peek
In upon your velvet cheek
So carefully and so quietly lest
I disturb your gentle rest.

Sleeping love, it is so clear
That my love for you is dear;
Ever since, my love's grown deep,
The first time I saw you asleep.

Author notes

I'm not a parent, but I can imagine how wonderful it would be to look in on my own child as it's sleeping.  I hope you all like this one!

    I love this! This is so sweet! There's always a special bond between mother and child, that nothing else comes close to. I hope that when you do experience motherhood, it will be full of heartwarming memories. I'm not a mother eithor, but I do know that bond with my mother. Anyways, this a terrific poem, and I wish you luck in my contest!

    Thank you- my choice was #21, the one about the song. I think I tried to comment on one of your poems, as well, but since my own was a prewrite, I couldn't leave it in the Author's comments.
