Around the World in 100 Pages

I traveled round the world this week; I went from sea to sea,
I visited Australia, and even Germany.
I helped a lovely princess and I rode a unicorn,
I fought a couple battles and a soldier I did mourn.
And then I traveled back in time to put a wrong thing right,
But on the way I stopped so I could cheer a jousting knight.
And next I hurried quickly back so I could see the king,
Then I traversed the countryside to hear a choir sing.
I met a friendly dragon that had quite a tale to tell,
About the evil lady he had pushed into a well.
I went to wizard school where I met a boy named Harry,
Then sailed the seas with pirates and got too much gold to carry.
The galaxy and planets were the next stops on my trip,
And I stopped by a space dock so to see the giant ship.
The centaurs were the best; they were really fun to meet,
But then again the griffin’s wild beauty can’t be beat.
The mermen’s world was beautiful, 'neath the waves so deep,
I’m glad the monster I went past didn’t waken from its sleep!
Next week I plan to travel more, perhaps I’ll learn to cook,
And if you want to go with me, simply open up a book!

What a unique and fun poem, Shadowsong. I like that it encourages kids to read. Books can open worlds we may have never dreamed of.

Good luck in the contest and thank you for entering
