Author notes

I wrote this song a while after I broke up with someone for the second time. I thought he was the one and swore I'd get him back. But he showed his true colours, and now I'm with someone so much better.

This song is the last track on my CD, Guiding Light.

      I actually need to think about doing something like that... I did have CDs for sale years ago, but I've none left now. I'm gonna look into selling the mp3 online and see if that would work. There's nothing like having a CD in your hand tho, so I'll also look into getting some more done. I've written a lot more songs since I recorded Guiding Light so I think I'll put together a new album some time soon. Thanks for your kind words! They really mean a lot.

      Thank you. I think this song sums up everything I felt for the two who slipped away. I'm somewhat friends with one of them and I just laugh when he asks me for relationship advice. The other one? Well, he's still in my mind after being split for 2 and a half years (we were together for 3) and it'll be a long time before I can laugh about him like I can the other...

    I didn't know you actually had a CD out...that is wonderful. I'd love to hear this song--its lyrics are soothing and yet relatable. I remember maybe twice in my life I've felt like this (but love hasn't been all that kind to me lately. sigh) I find it more and more difficult to really render judgement on other people's lyrics since I can't "hear" how the song goes...but this will have to do. I hope all is well with you..

If you won't do it for yourself; do it for Michael. That boy loves you, and probably craves for you to write a song specially for him. I know it'll come back to you. Just relax, and let it come...

    This is a very heart-felt piece... Thank you for entering my contest!!! I'm glad you found someone better too! As for the song itself, it could use some work to make it a little "unique"... since the most popular theme for songs is love, you've got to push even further to make it stand out... experiment with different lyrical and poetic techniques such as "imagery" in particular... you've got the rhyme and repetition down already... good luck to you in all your future songwriting endeavors!! ~penumbrapoet

    This was nice. It is always hard to judge lyrics since you can't "hear" them. I'm glad you are with someone you care deeply for. Sometimes the authors comments are the most important things.

    Awesome, a real song, great job! lol. I've been writing songs lately. This was really just completely beautiful. Great job with making this have a good rhythm; great with the rhyming as well. I loved the last two parts. They were so sweet. Nice work!

    I can imagine a tune to this which means that you did a good job, I can feel a flow, its not blocky which is good.
