Midnight

Mountain cedar and midnight chill
mix and spill through
my open window; while

the rise and fall, caressing
songs of passing,
homebound travelers

speak of certain commonalities,
magnified in solitude
by distance or by fate.

Yet, the brief existence
we share in some way
makes us more complete; and

what was this day begun,
has been for now concluded,
if not forever done.

In the end,
nothing
has disturbed

the rhythm, or
the order, of
the universe.

    "Yet, the brief existence

That last line really sums this up nicely. Well done.

i like this poem! the style you used added more dash to your words in my opinion.
no matter what status or differences we as people have we all share common, everyday things... often not even thought about.
in the end it life happens as it should and all is carried on without change
    "In the end,
    nothing
    has disturbed

    the rhythm, or
    the order, of
    the universe"

    that says it all...
really great poem to read first thing in the morning!
    thank you
