Sun Fun

Summer love has come again
Huggin, squeezin, teasin, tauntin
Springing forward time unbound
Leaping, jumping, flopping around
Warming rays of the golden sun
Tanning, growing, water sport fun
Days grow longer in the afternoon
Passion, Desire, couples shall swoon
Steamy nights filled with loving joy
Sultry romance is summers ploy

Reminded me of the song from Grease... Great action words to describe the fun of summer. Simple but pleasant description and nice imagery. Good rhythm, unforced rhyme, and smooth flow. You definately captured the playfulness and carefree mood of summer fun. Suggestions: add a comma between forward & time, leave desire lower case Flaws: "summers ploy" should be "summer's ploy". Short but sweet write, pleasant to read.

oh god yes bring on summer you captured this perfectly!!!!!i want some sun. its raining here in britain even though its the summer i have the heating on as well.really great how you rolled all the experience of summer and heat and love into your poem and in so few lines too.loved the flopping around bit and then the sultry romance bit its definitely more laid back in the summer and romantic for strolls and time slows

I think it is the suns fault that we are drawn to each other during the summer. Our minds tell us that if you are with that person over there perhaps it wont be as hot, and you know that is a lie becuase the temp increases about 100% once you get over there with them but then all of a sudden you forget that it is hot anymore as a wave a passion overtakes you and you are caught up in love, Summers got ya!........lol.

This is a really good poem. And I completely agree. Love seems just a little more wide spread in the summer. There's just something about those warm clear nights and the stars shining high in the dark sky that brings out the best in everyone. Love just seems a little better. If thats possible. Well great job here. Thanks for writing this

I like the way you think and think that we would be overrun with all sorts of nude beach wanderers.....lol.
We have blueprints????? I shall have to try to open mine and see if I can tweek that puppy a little in autocad.
Thank you for the lovely comment, I do appreciate it very much. As for the open-air love I have always been captivated with humanity and their public displays of affection. Everyone has their little "niche" in life. Thanx and take care.

We ought to form a club: The Lover's of Warmth and Soft Winds.
Our biological blueprint gave us such a delicious delight in bare-assed, open-air love. This captures that.

Ok now I am envious of where you live with all that beautiful cottage around you. I do appreciate you stopping in and having a read through this write. I can also just imagine the lovely times that you have there in that romantic setting. I used to work offshore on a drilling rig and the sunrises where some of the prettiest I have ever seen anywhere. Thank you for the applause and for commenting on this write. Take care.

I just keep turning the air up in the house on those hot summer nights....hehehehehe. I like it when the glass door fogs up when you open the front door, ya know you got it nice and cool inside. What we call a pool is the local swimming hole in the creek. It is pretty fun, nothing like diving off the bridge as the cars pass by and chasing a few moccasins out of the hole so you can get in to swim....lol. With all the natural springs we have it gets pretty cold in the creek. We usually take a watermellon and pin it underwater under a root or bank and let it get good and cold and then after you have swam a little you can dive back down to get it and eat it. The best part is after you get the mellon juice all over you, you can just jump back into the creek and get all washed off. Thanx for the comment on my write. Hope you have a great summer. Take care.

Ahhh.....Nicolette, I have to say that I do hate that the winter months are upon yall in Africa but I am glad that they arent on us up here......lol. I can stand the heat but the cold is just too much for me. Once my fingers and toes get cold then you can just throw me away because I am useless, well more useless than normal......lol. I enjoy the summertime as well though I think spring or early fall is my most favorite times of the year. Thank you for the comment and I hope that yall have a mild winter. Take care.

I think you may be on to something there macandrew, with enough of the brew one tends to get a little more courage to try just about anything.......lol. I guess it does account for some of those horrible sun burns too, "Dont touch me!!!!"......lol. Thank you for the comment and I hope you have a grand summer. Take care.

Summer days...and nights! Here in South Africa winter is just beginning and I feel a bit "jealous" of you guys (and girls) up north, lol!! This poem paints a lovely and lively picture of summer and it moves at a steamy pace. I've enjoyed this very much - enjoy tanning, water sports, passions, desires and all the joys of summer!

    lots of smiles

There does seem to be a corrolation between hot summer days and hot summer nights. Perhaps it is the cold brews that ease the heat only to create more of it.

    Well written.

Well I was riding the lawn mower all day today and come to think of it I didnt have a hat on so I guess I may have gotten touched by the sun gods today....lol.
I happen to like the long days myself because I am not a morning person at all. I like to stay up late and I love the long evenings so that I have plenty of time when I get off work to play basketball or whatever.
Come on Bohb you know you got some fun left in you and I bet you would look lovely in one of those itty bitty poke a dot swim trunks.......lol. Thanx for the comment man. I think all of this riding in the saddle is just making my sides hurt......hehehehe. Have fun this summer.......

Hey girl, the only flopping I have been doing as of late is tossing and turning in the bed late at night trying to drift off to sleep......lol. I havent been writing as of late for some strange reason, I think it is becuase I have been trying to put together another song, I dont know though. You are correct about the fun being better with two people instead of by yourself. I miss the days of youth spent on the lake not worrying about anything and having fun fishing, skiing and hooking up with friends . I still have a few up my sleeve but I reserve them for the times when I have writers block......lol. Thank you for the great comment and I will send all those writes over to you.....lol. Are you planning a great summer? What do you have up your sleeve???....lol. Take care Aimee. Hugz

Hey kjack thanx for stopping in and taking a peek at my write. I like to swim and have fun around the pool but if I get all lotioned up I usually get those pesky bugs all over me, stuck in the lotion and then I look like a frog popsicle.....lol. I need to be laying out and getting some color on this white body of mine........lol. Thank you for the comment.

    Summer Time Living

Man....you be feeling the heat eh?

I'm glad for the long days -- one can get a lot more done than when it gets dark at 4PM.

I think you covered most of the activities -- this reads like a summer camp program...and I'm tired just thinking about it.

Glad to see you're back in the saddle....and plugged into the nodes....rock on!

Now I am ready to go and lay by the pool, covered in all of that oily tanning lotion. But, I would just fry like a strip of bacon out there. Hey, this is poem does put one in a great mood for summer though. I love those summer days out at the lake with tons of friends, and summer love is always the best. I guess it must be the heat. I did really enjoy this poem. Thank you for sharing this. This poem is a true good mood booster.
