Sorry

I know we've had our moments
Both bad and good
It just tears me apart knowing
That you need someone close
But don't want me
I'd be there
I'd hold you while you cry
I'm different to what I used to be
The tables have turned
It's you who needs a shoulder
You're not here to witness the change in me
And I wish you were
The old you would've been so proud
I know I messed you up
You took too much from me, I understand
But I'm sorry
More than you'll ever know
You were the best friend I ever had
Just why did we end up hating each other?

I recently lost my best friend. She's been on my mind a lot. I've tried to be nice to her, but she turns it into an argument. Also recently she needed someone cos of something that happened and I wished I could have been there for her.

Regarding your author's comment, I've lost someone I thought was my best friend due to my decision to get a divorce. Some suggestions (I'm picky, so please don't be offended): "to what" might sound better as "than". I hope you felt better after writing this. And I hope you two are able to reconcile.

I am so sorry. This is good though. There are a few spots where you can another word here and there to help th flow of the poem. It's good though I like it. Thanks for entering my contest and good luck!! ~ Marissa
