Why waste my time.
Thinking of you,
Like how you don't know me
in anyway.
I could of loved you.
I wish I had.
But I wasn't good enough,
and you made it quite clear.
I'm nothing more then a stranger,
passing on the street.
I remember I couldn't wait for the day,
that you would say,
"I'm always here for you."
I wish you would of hugged me,
and told me you loved me more everyday.
But now all I feel is hate.
I could of loved you Dad.
But now it's to late.

Thank you for your comment on my poem “Marked moments” and the applause as well.. Sorry for the delay in replying. Your poem here, “To the Greatest dad ” sure stands in marked contrast to mine. And it rips my heart to read…to know that there is love missed, not received. this is as close to a tragedy that i can know. I know because my dad never ever told me he loved me. And the remorse is so hard to bear. He could give that phrase to my sisters…but never to his sons. Somehow we where never good enough for him to care for. So when my wife and i adopted our daughter, i never let a day go by without trying to affirm her and encourage her and tell her, I loved her. Thank you for making me remember. Blessings and best wishes, richard
