Spring dream ~
my hands allowed to hold
a sky-blue bird
Author notes
A vivid dream, February 2004:-
A small light blue bird, on a bush near my back porch, alights at my feet - then lets me pick it up and hold it...

awe
what a sweet and tender dream this is
Very unusual in fact that a 'wild' bird comes sitting on someones hands...
Anyhow, about the 'ku
You started off with the AHA-moment here, and then in fact what you witnessed, it's under seventeen syllables, and you embedded this most enchanting picture inside the words... very well done
Thanks for entering, and the best of luck

It is a rare bird indeed, and rare are the hands trusted enough to hold it. One the same spiritual plane such trust is love. Blessed it is. --Dee

A soulbird, indeed, a cosmic bird; a bird of paradise ...

Oh, I know it was Myra
. I do know there are blue birds...this was not any known breed of an earthly bird, was what I meant.

Some dreams may be real - I picked up birds in real life ... it was sacred ... And yes, one do get sky-blue birds ... I had one ... It flew away, and returned after weeks ... and then it died whilst our house was alight with a fire ...
Your poem is sacred.

Thank you, Myra!
Yes, you are quite right. It should be in the 'spiritual' category. I put it in 'weird' for humour...for those who would consider a dream like that a bit 'odd'.
It was very clear in the dream that there was no such bird in reality that shade of blue.

I forgot to say - would this not be more appropriate in the spiritual category? For me it is not weird at all - it is serenely spiritual ...

spiritually sound
Dearest Gennelle
This is probably one of the purest poetic pictures I've seen in a while - I can relate, because I had the very same privilege few times in my life ... But not without costs for the bird in hand: it carries with it the human fragrance, it is being said, and it may be rejected by the other birds ...
Thank you for a cameo of pure ecstasy ... I felt like holding His Breath within my throat ... and of course I do ...

you sure are fond of Japanese poetic forms. you write a lot of haikus and senryus. and they're beautiful, too.

Dreamy
Gennelle,
I'm sorry I forgot on my list, but we have talked so much, I've seen and enjoyed so much of your work. I guess I try doing the impossible or try making the impossible possible. I push hard for the things I believe. Thanks for telling me and thanks for the little dream

Oh yeah what a great thought. To be granted that one moment of beauty... you made me smile here.

Sweet!
The proverbial blue bird of happiness, I hope!
This is very pretty, I like "allowed", because it really is a privilege to gain the trust of a wild thing. Sweet dreams!
