O’, Your arms are flaming wings that hem me in,
glow with the aura of a thousand melting suns;
your fragrant essence - that of the rose of Sharon-
Lily of Zion.
My mouth pursed when You speak the Word
to invite your sweet Lips of truth on mine-
Kiss me more- that I may taste its warmth,
this intimacy You’ve chosen to select
for me .
Before the casbah of your celestial seat,
let me be the maiden to serve your Way,
the Heart of hearts; O’ palpitate me to
fainting pleasure that only a bride should know;
Seal me in evermore.
glow with the aura of a thousand melting suns;
your fragrant essence - that of the rose of Sharon-
Lily of Zion.
My mouth pursed when You speak the Word
to invite your sweet Lips of truth on mine-
Kiss me more- that I may taste its warmth,
this intimacy You’ve chosen to select
for me .
Before the casbah of your celestial seat,
let me be the maiden to serve your Way,
the Heart of hearts; O’ palpitate me to
fainting pleasure that only a bride should know;
Seal me in evermore.
Author notes
"Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth---
for your love is delightful than wine,
Pleasing is the fragrance of your perfumes;
your name is like perfume poured out.
No wonder the maidens love you!" Song of Songs 1:1-3

Beautiful
Oh--oh! Another Christian who sees God the way I do--romantic and caring for His bride.
This poem reminds me so much of one I wrote recently, called 'Song of Songs'--come read it, I'm sure you'll be as blessed as I have been in reading yours.
I love the first line especially: O’, Your arms are flaming wings that hem me in... It just grabbed my attention! I think I am going to add you to my favorites' list.
God bless you~

Thank you, dear Bonnie. I admire so much your level of Scriptural knowledge..especially at the time of the second coming. I'm not certain that we will be genderless, as we are to be ourselves in a glory state, but I realize there'll be no need for separate genders, as it was for initially giving the man company and a help mate, and also to procreate.
I loved your commentary and thank you for your time to read, comment and rate this special ditty.
Blessings!

Well done, Cookie! I must respond to some of the comments: "Ishi" is what our Lord will be called in the new earth, which is Hebrew for husband. Since each of us are spiritual beings trapped in a fleshy, decaying garment, we are genderless: neither male nor female. As scripture further enlightens, there will be no marriages, no old people or infant of days. Our new bodies will be genderless, neither old nor too young. A "husband," as it were, cares for his family by providing all their needs; therefore, we are Christ's spouse (collectively), for He will provide all our needs.
As I said, Cookie, this is a wonderful write and, indeed, Solomon was not writing about a physical lover. Rather, the whole Bible is devoted to our Father and His Son and what they should mean to us.
Good luck in the contest! Love and hugs, BonnieQ

Hi CZ,
You chose a most beautiful piece of scripture and potray it wonderfully in your verses. And good to see how it encourages us to think a bit more of God's love for us through His Son. In many places in scripture Jesus is referred to as the Bridegroom who will return to fetch his Bride (those submitting to His will). As is evident from the Songs of Solomon (and as others also commented) it is very much a romantic (romance =love) event; but His love is of a much more elevated and purer nature then the love we as humans are capable of. It is wonderful as we get nearer to Him each day how He can teach us of this pure love and how we can also learn to love Him that way!
And oh, I also like your background. Very subtle yet intrigueing!

Cookie, I never thought about the romance between God and his spouses? Like in that way.....So all that choose Him woman are his bride or spouses same thing? Just never heard that word used before. Though I have heard of the bride but thats mostly if woman married a man right? We would be the bride? Were children of God
but never knew we where a spouse or is t his more about the Spiritual love between God the husband and a wife?
I think Im confused? But anyhows it was a lovely piece...

Thank you all. Yes. Sherry. It is about the romance between God and his spouse(s), all of us who choose Jesus, and is based on the Scripture reference. Some scholars think Song of Songs from the Old Testament is about Solomon and a bride. But other ones see it also as a metaphorical devotion and surrender to the one who loved us so much, he spread his arms ..."THAT MUCH" and died for us to love and know him.
So the word romance is very fitting. As a groom to a chosen bride, we are that the Lord of All, intimate and knowable.
"Greater love than this, no man has" John 15:13. KJV
Thank you for critiquing it so well.

Very nice verses Cookie, lovely ones yet very deep filled with the closeness of the Lord. The first reflects the love of the Lord taking you in his arms....his heart the second one seems romantic to me, but then of course in a different way with his purity and with a touch of being filled with His Spirit....Sorry I said romantic that maybe not good to see the Lord that wa y or say that about your piece...the kisses and lips thing maybe is why I saw it as passion/romantic but its a spiritual love with the purity of being filled His Spirit reached by Him touched by His molding...... The last stanza shows the humble heart you have before the Lord and wanting His will Cookie......Hope I did alright love and hugs,Sherry
