~by Gregg Rowe~
I like pictures, images on my screen
Twin Towers event
Kennedy, King and Lennon
shot dead
Release Mel's Passion, during week-end Lent
ticket tellers fed
cinematic world praising
sermon
Anthrax, AIDS and soldiers forced to behead
details are summoned
our government is not bent
take heed
nothing is so bloody pre-determined
it is just routine
have you taken the time, read:
repent
I like pictures, throughout my magazines
visual torments
and a pre-determining
instead
if I
like photographs, on a wide
screen, see distorted views;
yes..., just as long as I am not in them

Great poem on the fanatic media hype, violence, hypocracy that is going on in america, well its not just america. Everyone loves to watch rocky
But not many like a punch in the gut. In terms of poetics i like the shape and the clearness of content.
Very efective last stanza. Cool.
P.S why not checkout my stuff on my page and give some comment, as i am new member and need some reads.

That is the most AWESOME picture I have ever seen. Haha, thats great. The poem was very good, you definitely got your point across; Great work
-
by far the last stanza left the biggest impact on me. for me, this poem felt like every american doesn't want to admit to feeling. we love this stuff. we have a morbid fascination with everything violent. we just don't want to get in harms way.
great work good luck in the contest

Miseria Malleus
You definately have my permission to do whatever you want with it. it is a form poetry, so you have to count the syllables in every line I think it was 10, 5, 7, 2 and then last stanza uis reversed so if you write in this style IM me so I can give you line by line breakdown if you wish. gregg
PS Thanks for stopping by and commenting, much appreciated.

Oh My I LOVE the Time cover, where ever did you find that?!
There is much truth to your words, all of the destruction we see daily on TV, movies and magazines... we watch fascinated until we are the ones affected by them and then everything is different. Great YELAI by the way, don't you find that style faaahbulous?
Nice job!

Haunting perspective on our country that seems to be totally out of control while time just keeps marching on...I prefer not to be in those images as well!
Great last line! I sincerely hope that you are doing well. I send prayers up for you daily. Be blessed my friend and the best of luck with this contest.
Much Love,
Renee

American Pop Culture: Thank you for noticing my grammatical error with 'took...taken'. I was going for syllable count because it is a line of seven syllables, I was trying to figure out how to get rid one 1 and duh!me, drop the 'and' and place a comma, works great, even more powerful, thank you
Gregg
HAH! I like this. One thing "have you took the time and read" "took" should be "taken". I love that last line, LOL. Love the background!

I love the re-write, you did a great job with this. I must say that after the September 11th tragedy, after about a week or so I just couldn't watch anymore, it was just too much.
Best of luck to you in the contest.

Fantastic piece! I think you have a most excellent point in this really. I think they go TOO far alot of times really. Actually I'm pretty strange myself, turned the tv off after 9/11 and never turned it back on again, thus far, except to watch a movie I rented. I got sick of hearing every little negative thing in the world and nothing positive. It seems like pain is all that sells and all they speak off...grrrr. An excellent write you've done here!!
-
Ahh..good one Gregg! I think you've hit the nail on the head with this one. It's such a sad world that we live in , now.. seems as though absolutely nothing is or will be going right. Most of us....all we can do is sit back..the ones that do try to change things get yelled at, etc. I loved the way this was written, and I'm going to try my hand in it too
Always up for a challenge!!! I enjoyed this write, greatly... your writing never ceases to amaze me
Keep on writing, hun!

"Once we give up our civil liberties for security, we lose our security." - Ben Franklin
It's happening, litle by little, after each "terroist attack," we lose a little more. Take heed, 1984 is right around the corner. -
I really liked it. These are some sad times we are in. A strong jab towards the media, and the state of this country in general. Every bit of news we see is sensationalized, and designed to make us better consumers. It's hard to tell when watching tv where the commercials begin and end. Everyone is selling you something, whether its a false sense of peace, ideals, a bigger penis, a new movie, or a brand new gas guzzling car. I really liked this piece, it makes you think.

Excellent
My friend this is just perfect! Lovin the background, the magazine cover is just right!

good poem but were not fucked think if gore was the president what the hell woulda happened about 9 11 dont forget the way we all felt that day when thoses planes crashed were teachin everyone a lesson about messin with america
i think we should be glad that its bush in there instead of gore he woulda been like uhh thats ok whatever they can kill our country i dont care
God has blessed america!!!
-
I think you make a good point. Everything is right there for us to see, and do we always need to? No. Not as far as I'm concerned. I like my quiet spot in this country, in this world, where I can sit ..and turn my eyes from the glaring "truth" shoved down my throat everyday.
-
2 thumbs, a toe, and an ear hair up!
This is a good reflection of our country. We are truely FUCKED! So many people don't even realize it though. Keep spreading the word. Power and blessings to you. Blessed be!
