Unlucky Thirteen

Something's happened to my child
I've got no-one else to tell
These past few months life in our house
Has been a living hell

The curtains drawn from dawn till dusk
The barricaded bedroom door
Meals left untouched upon the plate -
Signs impossible to ignore

But now the moon is rising
I hear movements from upstairs
Strange music turns my blood to ice
I start to say my prayers

The bathroom is a danger zone
I fear to look inside
The bath and walls stained black and red,
There's nowhere left to hide

The bedroom door flies open
A black wraith gives me a fright
A fleeting glimpse; white face, red mouth
And she's gone into the night

I feel a sinking in my heart
As I watch the moon get higher
I have to face the awful truth
My daughter's a vampyre

(I don't dare ask her any questions
for fear the answers will be scary -
I can only ask myself, how come
I've spawned an Aevil Faerie?!)
