Poetry

Missing image
by Gregg Rowe

Poems scream in my head, demand me to release them

Over and over they rake my brain cells like hot coal on fire

Escape routes blocked by words jingling a metaphor in my head

Today I pick up my fountain pen, listen as ink silently scratches on paper

Release vocabulary from the depths of my darkened filing cabinets

Yet, yearn to release the demons of yesterday to live today

Oh my, I know this feeling... it's often around when I'm in the middle of a writer's block (which is almost always)... there's a poem right there, right at the tip of my pen, so to speak... but it won't come out. Or if it does, it comes out all wrong, deformed... but finally, I manage to write... something. It's usually decent, but not always. Anyway, I really like this poem, you did a good job of giving the exact feelings that come along with the release of a writer's block (or at least, that's what I think it's about...) Lovely job, hehe, keep it up!

This was really enjoyable to read, it’s so true the way feelings developed and remain until they're realized, it happens to the best and worst of anyone who writes and you seemed to capture this feeling very well in words, amazing write!

Nice job. I think the process of writing poetry is something that deserves to be written about more often, it's so complex and different for everybody. It's really interesting how different people find inspiration. Write on.

a feeling or a thought..it doesnt matter..as ive learned it is what it is...the poets curse..a constant mental 'affliction'...i guess you could call it..almost like a poetry reading in your head that doesn't stop..inspiration comes from many different things....those things fuel the fire..the fire burns but never out...i think our minds can grasp perfection slightly, but our bodies and souls( being our words) will never be able to grasp it or portray it..if that makes sense...i dont know...but..i did enjoy it!...
