New Year's Day 2004

january one

quilted snow patches melted

by last night's rainfall

Author notes

We had a rainstorm coming from Ottawa, Ontario back to Montréal on New Year's day and all I could remember while driving through it was the snow/rainstorm of our century when Montreal was under nature’s siege for two weeks after five days of steady rain...icicle trees and damage in the billions of dollars resulted...and the population of Quebec rose the following year.

There is always something so refreshing about the snow melting. As if a whole new world is awaiting beneath the cold coat.

    Fabulous haiku. Good luck

Very cool, I don't enjoy reading haikus very much, but I really liked this one.
