in loving memory of my dear friend
Patric Patterson

dear poet of the morn
i seek your loving smile
to once again my soul embrace
come sit with me awhile
dear poet of the day
with laughter and with tears
and all that’s good upon this earth
you’ve shown me through the years
dear poet of the eve
who’s solace one last time
has soothed my pain and sorrow
made my sad heart shine
dear poet of the night
light my way once more
shine your brightness down on me
from yon heaven’s door
dear poet of my life
your words are understood
now you know for certain, sure
it really is all good
dear poet of my heart
i’ll miss you, this i know
though you’ve gone to be with Him
it’s hard to let you go
dear poet of my soul
when all is said and done
you’ve made a difference on this earth
fought the battle and won
~~~~~~~~~~
dear patric,
i’ll miss you
you’ve made me laugh,
made me cry
brought me joy
eased my pain
and you’ve taught me
...it’s all good
Author notes
Patric is someone we'll never forget. His love for all of us shone through each word, every line of his poetry. He brought us joy, laughter, tears and love. For me, he was a special friend, one who will live forever in my heart.
Mystysaint, this is not a contest poem, it's simply a tribute to Patric, written with love, from my heart to his. I'm placing it here so as to be among the others paying tribute to him and his memory.
I did not know this man, but he seemed to be a beautiful soul.
I wish I could have.
I am sorry that things had to end that way they did.
This was an amazing poem. Very beautiful and moving.
It feels as though you wrote more then just a poem, but a story of a life. Through this he lives on, in so many ways.
Amazing!
Apoets poem
I now must bookmark this poem and come back to find you again. I must go now but I will return to say more. I simply must try for more than simply saying great. -
This was very good. Know you miss him.
Hello Dee. I wasn't expecting to be weeping so early in the morning.
What a beautiful and touching tribute. I didn't actually know Patric but I do remember how sad I felt all the same when I saw his passing announced on AP.
I’m sure he is smiling down on you and ‘it’s all good…’ where he is now.
Thank you for your comment on my poem.
Hi, Jennethepoet. Thank you so much for reading this poem. As for the background, all you need to do is right click on the background and then on 'save as...'Then just put it into your picture folder. That way you can access it whenever you want to. I'm glad you like it. Actually I got it from another poet on here, Nam, he's the one who told me how to save it.
Dee,
I did not know this amazing man I have heard so much about.. but I know he touched a lot of lives.. here at AP and I am sure elsewhere. This is an amazing tribute to him, and I hope that his family has gotten a chance to read your loving words. You wrote this brilliantly and it is evident that each word was born in your heart and then born on this page.
"dear poet of my life
your words are understood
now you know for certain, sure
it really is all good"
Indeed my dear, it is all good!
excellent
I only found out about him passing away recently ans will be updating his posts on my site where he posted some pieces.
This is a wonderful tribute to him Dee, and I know he would have liked that! -
THumbs up
You wamred my heart, and managed to brighten my day Thank you -
I choked up on this one. Patric was indeed all that you have written, and then some. I do miss his wit and rationale. On a day like today when I was irritated and distressed, I could have run to him, and he would have soothed my soul. Thanks catz, I so need this, even though it has left me in tears. Take good care, and know that it's all good...
Much Love,
Renee
Excellent Tribute
Hi Dee, this is a truly beautiful, warmhearted and loving tribute. I loved the way you started each very with 'Dear Poet' that was very brilliant. I never knew or heard of Patric (Repomen79) until his passing but I did visit his HP and read a few of his poems and they were wonderful. He was an absolutely gifted poet and you also very gifted and blessed to have written such a warm tribute to such a wonderful person as Patric.
Oh, your poem is right from your heart, it is like a bell that tolls for Patric, with each clear tone, how important he was to you. I feel for his family, he must have been a joy to them, I feel for those of us whose lives he touched, and I hope we can hold onto his words for our lives. You paid him a wonderful tribute with your excellent poem. Thank you for your kind words, and we know it's not about the contest, it's about the love. You are a dear person, and a great talent.
Dee, this is a beautiful tribute to a most wonderful poet and friend. I only wish I knew him as well as you did. But the best thing about this site is that it is a true community of friends!!! and when we lose a member, it affects us all in some way.
I felt a little confusion over checking out his work. It somehow seem inappropriate to read his work NOW and not while he was with us...but, upon reflection, I think we'd ALL like for our poetry/words to live on long after we are gone and to still be enjoyed by others...SO, I will most definitely honor his time spent here by reading his work....God Bless
This isn't meant to be a real contest poem, either... I just wanted it to be among all the other tributes to him. I have two voice overs of a couple of his collaborations with strm dncr. the two of them did some wonderful collabs and Cookie Zeal made these two voice overs. She sent them to me last night. They're really nice. She did a good job with them both.
I have read his poems and I'm surprised I can see through these tears from so much emotion. I don't know what to feel right now. I read an older poem that made me laugh, and then I think about never actually meeting him and that makes me upset. I'm so confused now.
Yer welcome for the comment. I wrote a poem to him also, but didn't enter it in the contest. -
You can know him, MoonWolf
Just read some of his poetry and you'll feel his warmth, his caring soul. You'll feel as if he wrote just for you. He could make us fall down laughing or raise our spirits to the heights....and everything in between.
Thanks for your kind comment.
This made me cry. I so wish I knew him personally. Anyways, these were kind words to his parting and I've recently read some of his poetry and the words you say here are true. Thank you for sharing what he has been like to you. I'm sure that wherever he is now, he's reading this and smiling.
