to a lost friend
but they were uttered by Ozzy
so an evil meaning must be within
One depressed teen
took his own life
while listening to this song
he ended his hell that night
His parents could not deal
with their own culpability
so they lashed out at the music
in order to be guilt free
But justice was not blind
this time around
The charges were dismissed
and no guilt was found

Ozzy Osbourne - Suicide Solution lyrics
Wine is fine, but whiskey's quicker
Suicide is slow with liquor
Take a bottle, drown your sorrows
Then it floods away tomorrows
Away tomorrows
Evil thoughts and evil doings
Cold, alone you hang in ruins
Thought that you'd escape the reaper
You can't escape the master keeper
'Cos you feel life's unreal, and you're living a lie
Such a shame, who's to blame, and you're wondering why
Then you ask from your cask, is there life after birth
What you saw can mean hell on this earth
Hell on this earth
Now you live inside a bottle
The reaper's travelling at full throttle
It's catching you, but you don't see
The reaper's you, and the reaper is me
Breaking laws, knocking doors
But there's no one at home
Made your bed, rest your head
But you lie there and moan
Where to hide, suicide is the only way out
Don't you know what it's really about
Wine is fine, but whiskey's quicker
Suicide is slow with liquor
Take a bottle, drown your sorrows
Then it floods away tomorrows
Author notes
This song was written in tribute to Bon Scott of AC/DC who had died by choking on his own vomit while passed out drunk. They tried to say there were subliminal messages in the song and that it encouraged suicide, when in actuality it shows the devastating effects that alcohol can have on you. I included the lyrics under my poem. Ozzy has so many awesome songs that it was hard to pick only one to write about, but I think I felt the most sorry for Ozzy over this one, because he was basically being called the murderer of that poor depressed teen.

Nice tribute to Ozzy. I was never allowed to listen to him growing up, but I see that his stuff isn't all that bad. He just got a bad rap, and I think to a certain extent, he played it up. I certainly don't feel sorry for him, if you are in the public light, people will say all kinds of stupid things. Sad, but true. I think he's had a great career, and now he's milking MTV for all their f-ing worth. So, I say, go for it. Nice poem based on some good lyrics. Thanks for sharing, and apparently congrats are in order.
Peace,
Lo

I think you made an excellent choice as far as which of Ozzy's songs to use..he does have so many amazing songs/lyrics...you have done an amazing job yourself writing this..the description is perfect..it is sad that the song was so misunderstood...as so many things in life are..anyways..great write and good luck in the contest...

I hate when people blame music/movies for the problems of the country. Obviously if someone is "influenced" by media there was something wrong with them in the first place. Great poem...I think you did a wonderful job explaining. Good luck

It amazes me how movies, songs and so forth get the blame for many of the awful things that go on in the world. I think this is a great write, you've done a great job. I think if the idea is in ya head ya gonna follow through with whatever it is to be honest.
Good luck

This was beautiful...I heard so much about this, it is devistating to think that Ozzy could do something like that. Ignorant people lashing out because they wan't to blame metal for their problems...Ignorant people, if they had even begun to listen to early Black Sabbath, they would have realized that the songs written can fit in the Christian and Love category. That song is a beautiful tribute, its too bad those people couldn't see it. Wonderful poem!
