I took the chance to find the mate
that matched the other from the crate,
but from the bunch which I had found
one was crewed, the other round;
Some were dotted from linted cling,
others threaded with kinky string-
and while I searched at midnight hour
from a brief and powdered shower,
I saw the one that I paid dear
monogrammed but single here.
So now I grope in further search
(my Nike's hungry for the perch)
to my eyes it fell to sight
I'll make real sure the pair is right~
Ah, never mind! forget the blend
I'm matching shades, ta' heck with trend-
So if I'm wearing socks to please
it's one of those, and part of these!

awesome
I really enjoy this poem. -
Ha ha ha! Excellent! Where do the odd ones go?? I like this - very quick and upbeat, and so realistic.
I don't think I've got odd socks on today, but whether they came in a pair is a mystery as I rate matching as 'both being black or white' regardless of origin.
Thanks for your critique of my poem - I'm glad someone gets why I would write about sore feet (an unpalatable topic but one with lots of colours, emotions, sensations and SMELLS - LOL!) they really make an impression if you have 'em! -
excellent
Cookie, Hope you find this comment. I have hauled around bags of mismatched socks. It is sheer joy if under a dresser or behind the couch I find the mate, however, I've usually worn the lone sock with another lone sock. So when I go to put two mates together I find that the one that has been available has gotten a hole in the toe so I wind up throwing them both out.
Socks, arn't they strange creatures? Thank you for your poem. I do the sock thing at midnight too. It is like a treasure hunt, always with poor results. I think socks attack our sense of being organized. -
excellent
reminds me of myself. in the morning, if I can't find a matching pair, like the trend part, then I just go with the ones that look the same length, and are the same color.hahaha.great write! -

Hey this is really great.
I have to admit that I love poetry that turns mundane everyday events into social narratives.
I think I'm going to have to read this again later when my brain can process it better- this is great!!!!
Just to let you know this will be the 2nd of your poems in my favorites list!!
Thankyou

It is one of the greatest mysteries of the Universe - Where does the other sock go? :-} -
excellent
If you are wearing a pair of socks that don't match, don't worry.
There's another pair in the drawer just like 'em.
Cute write, thanx. -

Hehehe. Sounds like my sock drawer. Several shades of black and blue drive me up a wall. I can never match them and then I realized what was happening, the dryer was eating them. That's what I was told anyway. This is very clever, wish I had thought of it first. :) jdr -

I always do the one black one blue thing if in the dark LOL :)
