~ The Dance goes on ~

'Dance Me...'

Author notes

This I consider a companion piece to the poem which inspired it,
"Mystery" by JoyBeingNow allpoetry.com/Poem/593296 (Both written: Oct 2003)

Also inspired by Leonard Cohen's song:
"Dance Me to the End of Love" [Album: 'Various Positions' 1984]

Dear Yem, "I should live so long!"

Margaret, someday in about 1000 years they will have statues erected in my honor...if you don't believe me, just wait and see!

Gennelle, I think that Yem is on to something. I have been thinking of souls as extrusions of the One into physical form - and the consequence is that all love is self love. Jesus said something like "who does a kindness for the littlest one does it for me".
Your explanation above makes more sense to me now. My personal understanding is that while I find nothing wrong with physical expressions, I steer away from people who speak of nothing else.

Ah, yes. Your words are true here Poet.

There is a dance, I'm seeking to find,
and explanation to, and I can't find.
It has to do with the simplicity
of the wonderful force we call "gravity",
Iv'e heard it explained, I know what it does,
I can't find anyone who can tell me, just what it was.
Some say it's like love, some say it's a force,
magnetism is sometimes brought up of course.
I know we all have it, we pull one to the other,
yet poet, I've yet this one thing to discover-
What is it? Part of the dance no doubt,
You've explained this so well, can you help me figure it out?

If you have a mystical, scientific or just plain any kind of explanation, this one would love to see a verse such as you have penned here about it. Wonderful!

Thanks, Yem! I like cynics...they are just disappointed idealists aren't they?
You didn't click to the one which inspired it, that I referenced in my author notes, did you...you should, it helps understand this one better.

I like your notion, and I also like argaret's your both right smart ladies but your both wrong. Love is a projection of our own self-love onto another. Sorry, the cynic had to come out and play.

You produce a lot from a little...utilitarians would be proud. I like this, it is far more to it than a casual reader suspects.
Not that I'm a good reader...I'm just Yem, whatever category that is.

I tend to think of love less in terms of magnetism than as gravity. Things that are together tend to remain together, but if the attraction is overcome, they fly away at great speed.
    Still thinking!

Thanks, Margaret! The natural and inevitable tension between spirit and matter is the intended image. The ultimate representations of Love always induce extreme reactions of attraction or repulsion, never indifference (Ye'shua the best evample).
Familiarity with the song can help too...
"We're both of us beneath our love
    We're both of us above
Dance me to the end of love"

You wrote this before I met you, I missed it.
This is a little opaque to me in a way that Uwe's was not. I'm going to let it sit and see what happens. Whatever I think about attractions and repulsions, the dance does go on.

So I went and read the other as well before comemtning, and I can see where you drew your inspiration from Both of these are lovely and they could be combined into a single collaboration like a mondo where one makes a statement and the other responds... Really lovely poem on it's own, but even better in light of the inspiration.
    Thank you for sharing,
    Susan

this is beautiful,,,lol,, as I find all your work lol,,the last line really pulls it out well,, brings it to a level above the simple emotional physical state of it,, and more to the spiritual,,the old saying, "love makes the world go 'round" I think is applicable to this,,very moving,, I always do love reading your words,,RW
