It shouldn’t hurt to be a child
The abuse is never mild
All she wants is to be embraced
Not hit across the face
She keeps quiet at school
Afraid to tell others what goes on in her broken home
She lies to her teacher
About the new cuts and bruises that appear every day
She slowly walks home afraid
That her dad had a bad day
When she walks through door
She is slammed against the hard wall
She struggles to get to her feet
Instead, she gets beat
Her father apparently had a bad day
She tries to get away
She feels a sharp pain in her side
She looks to see her father holding a blood covered knife
He leaves her in a pool of her own blood on the floor
She struggles to make her way to the door
She safely gets away or so she thinks
Her heart sinks
As she is hit by her father’s car with such force
His eyes hold no remorse
He leaves her there on the street
She lies dead on the cold concrete
She’s found by the teacher you wanted to help
But she never heard her painful yelps.
What did you think?
