  • LOL....

I'm a 'lil lame brained here. A long time since I've been bowling. For the 3rd time? Just the vision of this is funny....& to boot....I'm trying to figure it out! Meaning you're missing just the 2 for a strike 3 times? I'm brain injured & this is a puzzle. Congrats on the HM....the aha line is supposed to make one think, right?

Hi, There are only ten pins, not twelve, in bowling so there were 3 strikes in a row which is called a "turkey". This haiku was in a contest about turkeys in honor of Thanksgiving. So to really be an effective aha line, one must know that the haiku was supposed to be about a turkey.

Otherwise, the last line could have just as well said "again" to perhaps signal success. If it had said "for the twelfth time", it would have indicated "perfect success" because 12 strikes in a row is considered a perfect game.

      Thanks for commenting. Mary

      • I told you it was a long time since I was bowling! I never heard the term 3 strikes in a row called a 'turkey'! Never got to see that in my bowling days. I was in this contest. You had to be an avid bowler to get this.

Oh, this is so interesting. It must be a bowling term, I shall have to ask my daughter the bowler. Any kind of turkey works in this contest, thank you so much!
