I Said Now Self Behave

Unhappy  with  the  way  my  life  was  lived,
and  looking  in  the mirror at  what  I  had  to  give.
I  said  now  self behave  and  straighten  up,
for  time  is  short  and where  is  the  love.

I  looked  at  my  habits  and  thought  what  the  heck,
if  I  dont stop  it  I  will  die  you bet.
So  I  cleaned  out  the  old  cob webs  and took  a new  muse,
and  thought  I  will  surely  get  better  and  I cant  lose.

So  I  tossed  out the  cigarettes  and junk  food  today,
grabbed  me  a paint  brush  and  was  on my  way.
Fix  the place  up  and  keep  busy  indeed,
and  now  and  then  get a glance  in  the  mirror  and  whispered  give it  time  you'll see.

A  day  passed and  I  was  a wreck,
I  could  see  ciggarettes in  my  dreams  you  bet.
Every  thought  in  my  mind  told  me  oh  you  can  have  just  one,
and  I  would slap  myself  up  side  the  head  and yell  out not  this  old  gal  hun,

I  washed  the  walls  and  the  ceiling  twice,
vacumed  the  floor  so  many  times.
Washed the  windows till  they  look  like they  werent  there  anymore,
and  liked  to  have  wore  out  the  knob  on  the  doors.

In  and  out,  in  and  out  I went;,
left  a trail  in  the  grass so  many  trips  and  then.
I  cut  the  grass  this  way  and  that,
and  trust  me  I  slept  like  a baby so  tired in  fact.

The  next  morning  was  the  toughest  time  indeed,
I  usually  had  a smoke  with  my  coffee.
I  squirmed  and  shouted  but  held  true  to  my goal ,
and  once  past  my  coffee break  I  didnt  want  one  no  more.

Now  I  live  in  the  cleanest  house  in  town,
and  its  open  house  to  everyone  around.
My  body  is  so  full  of  energy I  asked  myself  why,
why  did  I  wait  untill  I  was  old to  get  healthy  that's  right.

    Patty,

Thank you for sharing your inspiring story on "kicking butt". Cigarette butt, that is!! I had no idea you had so much energy, WOW!! You blew me away just reading of your busy antics, Ms. Poet!! Well, to be sure, you do have an ample supply of sheer determination and true grit!! You probably descend from one of the original frontier women stock. You know, those hardy pioneers who built up this nation from scratch. I like your sense of humor portrayed here... you brought a smile to my face!! I'm wishing you all the best of luck and you take good care!!
    Peace & Hugs,
    Cyn
