American Hope

They come in from the silent night
to rape my mind and take my rights.
They bury their cross of homicide,
to hide the truths of all those who've died.

They take your rights
and feed you lies...
So many meaningless nights
sleeping under foreign skies.

If you lose your life,
they won't shed a tear of sorrow.
They'll just package more
and ship them out tomorrow.

To them you're not hope, not the next big thing,
not the future-you're expendable.
Why lose your life for a government
that's not even dependable?

Author notes

Okay...This is a poem. Not my best, lil' rough around the edges, but I like it. Otherwise I wouldn't have posted it...

I like it too. A lot. You absolutely got your point across in this piece. Even before I read the word "government" in the last stanza, I got the definite feeling of anarchy. I think you chose your words very well. At least in my opinion, there's a lot of truth to this poem. It does read a bit bumpy, but that's all I can see that's "wrong" here. Excellent piece.
