New Spoken Word: Enough Melodrama

For the past week and a half all I've hear is crap aboutbreak up's, love is real, and bunch of other crap
To be honest, I'm getting pretty sick of it

Here's the thing... girls
You know what, this isn't just with girls, but guys too and it's really something
pathetic if you ask me
I've heard it before and I'm bound to hear it again soon
They say something like, "I just got dumped and I'm feeling pretty blue"
Crying alone in their room, but they've got so much to lose
I used to be just like them so I know my words are true
I know my words are true when I say:

There is absolutely no sense in crying in your room for a week
I'm not saying it's wrong to be sad, upset or whatever
but come on... It gets old
You can bitch and moan
Send over a thousand whiny texts on your phone
but if you've got good friends then there is no reason to feel alone

Why do people always say they feel alone, or lonely when they're single or dumped
That is complete crap
I mean for christs sakes go out with your friends and have a freakin' ball
because at some point in all of this
When you sob and cut your wrists
not so deep, but just enough to leave a scabby cut with your shaving razor
Your emotional infirmity and your melancholy look at life becomes
no one's fault but your own

You can cry
You can threaten your life
but I see right past your show
and I can tell you it's gonna leave you with nowhere to go
So wipe away those tears
Turn off the Bring Me The Horizon
the My Chemical Romance
and the Cute Is What We Aim For
and turn off all that "Say that we're punk, but where just poppy emo crap"
Get on with your life and maybe you wont seem so pathetic

And another thing, quit spending your youth looking for "true love"
It's not even an actual thing, if anything it's an illusion that'll ware off
in a matter of weeks while dating the person
You'll probably find some one compatible enough with you that you fall asleep next to you for the rest of your miserable lives
but why worry about that now
I mean christ, go out and do something
Write a book
Have a freakin' ball
Make some cash and blow it all off

I'm not saying don't date anybody
but a lot of people, mostly girls, don't feel good about themselves unless there in a boys arms
People in my generation are so desperate for somebody to come along
Text them, "I Luv U 4 eva bby" every other message
and tell them every pointless romantic thing they've ever wanted to hear
They get tired of that, go for the jerk they can't have
get treated like total crap, just to be with somebody who'll tell them they love them
Have any of you ever stopped to think
Just once have you ever thought that maybe it's your fault that you feel so miserable

Welcome to real life
It isn't a romantic comedy
It isn't a drama
or a combination of the three
It's a documentary, and yours is looking pretty phony and melodramatic

P.S.
If I hear anyone talk about how great New Moon was one more time, I swear to God I'm gonna brain them

This line[s] made me laugh. I'm a 18 year old female...all of this you wrote is true. I mean I saw this is a lot in majority of girls in my school believed in that Disney bullshit of love. Call me cynical, but I did not want to believe that love was like this. That the only way you can be happy was to be in the arms of some shitty guy. I was happy being single [of course with some terrible "boyfriends" but hey it was high school], I had amazing friends in high school.

Now I can say being in college I have a pretty good relationship with a cool guy. And it isn't a romantic comedy or a Twilight fantasy. It's real life.

You have amazing insight, I'm definitely checking more of your work out.

I like the message, but not the style you wrote it in. Your poetry doesn't sound like poetry anymore.

      It's called spoken word.

Damn man, this is a perfect way of putting out the pathetic(ness) of all that extra drama that people put into shit, in this case "love." Your last few pieces have been absolutely fantastic, really great stuff!

I actually ended up updating the poem. All I'm getting is concurance with the twilight part, and its not supposed to be about that so I ommited that short part.

Thanks, but what did you think about the rest of it. Thats not really the whole message at all.

think that it is all right that you dont need to cry in your room for weeks because someone broke up with you. i think that new moon and the twilight thing are making everything seem more soppy and soft then it should be

Thanks, that was only a very small part of this though. What did you think about the larger message?
