Waiting for Daddy to Come

I know he will be back soon
He's been gone for awhile now
But I know he will be home

I know all the years we shared mean something to him.
All the hugs, the kisses, the laughs
All the good times

So I will sit here and wait
Though mommy says he left us
I don't believe it so
I will sit here on my windowsill,
Stare down the driveway,
And wait for daddy to come home

He will be home
Maybe the next day
        next week
                next month
                        or the next year
But he will come
I know he will

He will drive up the driveway
He will ring our doorbell
He will open the door
He will hug me
And love me
And never leave my side

He will be home
Though my mommy says he is gone
I know he will come
So I will sit here on my windowsill,
Stare down the driveway,
And wait for daddy to come home

I remember what he looks like
His dark brown hair
His eyes
Eyes the same as mine

I remember his laugh
Full of joy
Happiness
The way he always laughed when he was with me..........

Now the days get longer
Sitting on that windowsill for so long
Has made me forget
Forget that I should be enjoying my life
I shouldn't have to wait any longer

It has been too long
Mommy says he is gone
I do not think he is going to come
So I will not sit on my windowsill
I will not stare down the driveway
I will not wait

Our good times mean nothing to him
The past memories have faded
He had a chance to be in my life
And now the chance is gone
If I don't mean enough to him to come home,
He doesn't deserve to be called my daddy.

Author notes

i wrote the first have of this in my creative writing club.
we were making poems from pictures one of the group's leaders found on the computer.
it was a werid pic mainly of trees, but the only thing i saw was a small driveway.
i made this whole poem out of that
it is the largest i have made so far
