and your nose is only just submerged.
I see your bubbles.
You could jump.
Oh, you could jump, thrashing, to the surface,
the sunlight warms the top of your head already.
A push off is all you need, 5'6 inches of wetness
smothers you but you only need
one inch of push, of struggle, just an inch
and you'd be breathing with the rest of us.
But it's too much of an effort, isn't it?
Pretending to drown is much simpler.
Only one day I won't be there with the boat, with the rope,
hauling you back up.
Author notes
I don't like to tell people how to feel because I hate when people do it to me, and you might not know the whole story. You can never assume that someone has the right or doesn't have the right to be upset or angry; it's not your place.
But what I hate more is when people I care about are content to sit about wallowing in self pity instead of helping themselves out and clawing their way back to the top. Especially when they complain about it 24-7.

This is a very well written point. The message was extremely clear without the AN. I enjoyed this. There is and old biblical quotation that the Lord helps those who helps themselves. If you cannot be bothered to help yourself why should anyone, including a higher power, bother with you?
Great job on this one.
