Wishful Play

Just listen very quietly you’ll hear upon the breeze
the ringing of a very tiny bell,
wander on the woodland path beneath the tallest trees
until you find a hidden magic dell.

Unicorns are drinking from a shiny silver stream,
rabbits play and blue birds sing a song,
you hold your breath, how can this be, you’ve walked into a dream;
you’re surrounded by a very noisy throng.

The tolling of the bell was calling all the woodland folk
to celebrate the birthday of their King,
a party would be held tonight beneath the mighty oak
where animals and fairies dance and sing.

A horse with wings arrives to take you to a distant land,
you climb aboard and hold his mane so tight,
then fly upon a starlit course to music from the band
and leave a blazing trail into the night.

Flying over mountain tops and castles in the cloud,
you wish that you could stop, but journey on,
your steed slows down and you alight beside this beast so proud;
you give your thanks and all to soon he’s gone.

You turn and walk your homeward path beneath the night time sky,
it seems as though you’ve never been away,
in your palm a shiny star you caught as you flew by,
was it a dream or just some wishful play?

Prompt ...

Take me on a journey to a beautiful, magical place. It can be about love, or through the imagination of a Child's eyes. I just was something like you would see in

"What dreams May come" ,"Lord of the Rings", "Legend of the Seeker", or Narnia.

A dream-like tale of magic spun transports me to your lands
Where fairie Kings and mythic creatures waltz to woodland bands
I saw you there to take that star, it's magic sharp and bright
You missed me, drinking with the elves 'till early morning light

You have to watch the drink elves give, it has a magic spell
you will return to drink some more within the fairies dell,
for humans who have been there once are not allowed to tell,
you know your heart will not ignore, the ringing of the bell.

      Thanks for the lovely comment.

Well that explains the constant ghostly ringing in my ear
And why I wake each morning with the breath of elfin beer
You solved my biggest puzzle (I'm so glad that you spoke up)
The pointy-eared green lady in my bed when I woke up

Thanks for the lovely comment comment.
