Change in the air...

As I sat in my chair by the window
Coffee cup heating my hands
I watched as a spiral of smoke floated up
Splitting into silver grey bands

The air showed no sign of disturbance
Not even the gentlest breeze
The scene from my window so still and serene
As if caught in an instant deep freeze

Yet a warm rosy glow from the sun as it rose
Gave the world a peculiar tint
Of crimson and peach thats tinged with pure gold
Of lavendar...the tiniest hint

It imprinted itself deep into my mind
Those colours remain just as fresh
The beauty of nature will still be around
Long after I'm stripped of my flesh

Author notes

my muse on how transient we are as a species in the face of eternity...
