Dry Ice

feather light kisses
Whisper promises
that fall upon the white grounds
cold, harsh and icy.

Feather light kisses
turn into assault
as ice begins to smolder
burning Sanity

feather light kisses
exquisitely soft
sending shivers careening
down my spine - brutal.

    Question

Have you ever experienced snow before in your life? I like this poem for some odd strange reason. I always wonder what give syou the inspiration to write these poems. I mean honestly they always seem to come out of no where to me. Although, I'm sure for you, you have great reasoning behind them. Alright so I have this story for you its short don't worry...

One day my mom told me to go get some ice and well I saw a sign saying "dry ice". At the time I had no idea what dry ice was. So I went to the cooler where the dry ice was and grabbed it and I found it very strange that my hand was burning as I touched the ice. I jumped back and started screaming and everyone around me started laughing. Me, being the typical blonde that I am went to it again this time picking it up screaming as I ran fast with it through isles to my moms cart and put it in the cart. My mom just stared at me not saying a word. Then she said "Nicole, let me see your hands" I showed them to her and she just looked at me sadly. She said, "Nicole this is dry ice, do you know what dry ice is?" I said No and she said well alright go put it back. It's not the same thing. I'm like no way, my hands are burning! So that day I learned what dry ice was.

    Nice story huh?

    Why

Is it so incomprehensible that one can actually kiss with warmth? lol But yes the harsh reality is that so often what we deem hot turns cold when the truth appears.

    Profound

I love the dichotomy in this piece. Once again beautiful imagery. The opposing forces of gentleness and brutality was brilliant. I really enjoyed this one also.

    Loved It!!!!

I agree with Manda Kathryn and Sara on this one Ellie you have truly captured both darkness and light together. I love it. It is well penned. Keep up the good work.

    Love,

damn. powerfully penned; I love how you just give a burst of imagery from metaphors that can be interpreted different ways as per each readers mind

    Wonderful piece dear
    much depth in your use of metaphors...seems like the "kisses" you speak of is not warm and soothing but burn like cold "dry ice." posibly kisses of demise? In any case these are un-loving kissing effecting the mind {depression}
This is my perception anyway..Write On!... David
