Dedicated to Sami
There came to the cottage
One enquiring Owl -
Who took his quick stoppage
To abolish his scowl...
But ‘ere had he reached it,
The fairy emerged
And fore-warned him to Quit,
Afore it’d feel urged.
‘Thou better not stay here
Or as I you will be -
Since Souls hold what appear,
But to never be free.’
'Course...Mr. Owl re-fused
At being thus tried,
For though his heart excused
He was Feeling tired.
But at Night, as he dreamt,
The fair fairy crept
From out Shadows, pre-empt,
To take It as it slept.
‘Here forever, sweetheart,
You and I’ll re-side -
‘Til Then – let Us Ne’er Part -
As I’ll be your bride.’
But, like Eternities passed -
Like any other day:
She knew nightfall’s too fast:
For Time’ll fly Away.
Author notes
It's only as we fall that we realize we're small. There're many meanings, but hope it suits.
