I flew.
I went higher and higher and
my smile become one with the sun.
I felt the world slip away into hell
and heaven came closer, closer.
Then suddenly I forgot
how to stretch myself out
and float on the warm air,
falling onto a glacier
on the right side of earth
and I sat there, alone.
I saw the planes fly past
defying gravity as I did.
I saw the lifeboats
search for lost souls,
clinging onto hope.
I saw fishermen searching
for life in the polluted seas.
And I watched as they went by
in my crevice I hunched into.
Alone, silent, shut-eyed -
ignoring failed rescue attempts
and clinging onto the hope
my wings might regrow.

Wow...this is just brilliant. Every stanza is pure genius. This speaks to me with soft, sorrowful intention. I really enjoyed this piece..thank you so much for sharing.

Wow... it's strange to be back after so long. Not quite ready to post again. There's just so much on this site that brings back so much good and bad and everything in between. You know what I mean. And reading over it all now it feels like another lifetime. Maybe it was.
But I'm glad to see you're still writing. Don't stop, because you're more than talented. You really are. And this... well, you can fly... you do. And what's more- those who know you, and know you well, soar because of you. So don't lose hope.
