The Piano of Stone

By: Alex Leimbeck
1-23-2009

A long time it had been
Much journeying
Through caverns and temples
Cities and plains
Time itself...

I had finally fount it.

Deep within ruins
More ancient than mankind itself
On an island, perhaps once known
But now not even charted
It proudly stood there...

A piano.
Grey.
Surrounded by two towering statues
My human imagination
Depicted them as centaurs
With great wings upon their backs...

Identical in appearance
They both were.

I walked up...

Out of the ground before me
Rose a pedestal.

Upon sitting
The statues began to hum a tune
A tune with a sort of power...

However after playing four measures
I was knocked out.

Upon awakening,
Two senses assaulted my mind:
One to know I had a strength
And hope for humanity...
Another knowing I would be returning to this piano
In the future...

Author notes

These are starting to sound too much like a story and not poetic at all. =/ That's how a lot of my work is starting to sound actually.
