Listen to My Heart’s Request

Listen to My Heart’s Request

We made each other happy
Did we not?
We made each other laugh
We met obstacles head on
And I believed that we could overcome them
But it seems that you had other plans
It seems like you chose to shut me out in the end
To not answer my pleas
To not listen to my heart
To not feel anything when I cried myself to sleep
For awhile I had accepted that and tried to move on
I had found someone who could make me laugh but it didn’t quiet my heart
I knew that it was wrong; that she was wrong for me
My heart and mind were at war
My heart wanted to go back to you
To try and beg for forgiveness that I was sure you’d turn down
While my mind wanted to move on and forget the heartache
To forget everything and start again from the beginning
But I soon realized that there was no war at all
And to think otherwise would surely be the end of me
My heart had already won over my mind before the war even began
So what I wish to say is this
Will you allow me to try and make you happy again?
Will you allow me to try and make you laugh again?
Will you shut me out now or let me in?
Will you feel something when I cry myself to sleep?
I have no say in what you decide to do
Only you can choose what is best
So will you hear my pleas?
Will you listen to my heart’s request?
