A poet I want to be

A poet I want to be
but, is it really me?

Am I bereft of
the literary eloquence
to produce
exquisite works of art?

Should I settle for the common?

Shall I pursue
this ardent urge to communicate
to the extent
that I suppress
the inclination for ostentation?

Can I indulge in
obscure literary allusions
when such ilk
is beyond my comprehension?

But,

I want to touch others
the way some
touched me!

A poet I want to be
but,

Am I honest?
To myself?

What's wrong with the common, if you settle with them to communicate?
Don't you know that those commoners are the once making YOU famous?

Now I know why you don't think of me at all...

      Hi summer

Common is used here to denote the usual or familiar and I am asking. You would know that my answer is yes because I write for the fun of it and not to impress. Me famous? I am not Pacman. .
Aha, you are trying to turn the tables on me when you are only thinking of him. Good try.

    Probably not ...

but if you start watching what words you use and being careful to use the right word in the right way, you may achieve far more than you've ever imagined.

    Thanks for entering.

Perhaps the poetry we like differ. I like poetry but not those that make me go, "What's this?"
