There is now an empty space

or very far apart.
You were there in the best of times,
and the worst of them too.
We stuck together, no matter what,
'Bestest' buddies, me and you.
I miss you every singly day,
now that you are gone.
All's left are tear-stained memories,
no shoulder to cry on.
I love you and I miss you,
you were the VERY best.
A better place, I hope you'll find
where you can get some rest.
But when you look upon this world
from your mansion in the sky,
know one thing--forever and always--
I'll be thinking of you.

ok. this is a work of fiction, but i felt inspired when i read the contest title and description.

I'm sorry for you loss. Losing a best friend must be very hard on you. I'm not sure if this piece was exactly what you're looking for, but I tried. Contest aside, I'm sorry for your loss, and I truly do hope that you can be strong.
