Door of Opportunity

Today a new door opened

                                     a promise has begin

last evening was a special event

                                   I met my e-mail friend

We exchanged a hello and hug

feeling a warmth that touched my heart

dinner in a cozy restaurant

exchanging smiles and thoughts from the start

Not knowing what the future holds

                                       a promise has begun

sharing ideas and laughter

with a friend encompasses a lot of fun

Looking back at the past times

                            memories must be set aside

a new door of opportunity has opened

                     anticipated love I welcome inside

Oooooh . . . the part of a relationship that can be the most exciting and fearsome at the same time: that initial walk through the open door, and not knowing what one will find on the other side. I didn't meet my guy through the internet, but I felt some definite trepidation before going into meet him for our first date. The piece ends on a hopeful note, which is as it should be, regardless what memories of past experiences still might haunt. Thanks so much for entering my contest!

    nice one

A nice cozy fireside poem, the past is nice to remember
but you can only live in the present but the door of opportunity
is always good for a challange if brought into the present which it invariably is.I liked the last two lines the best they encompass the tenses best... Best Wishes...George...
