Outbuttoned(silver)

Missing image

You've collected the lot over the years
some just plain naughty, some are sincere.
Today is the day to bring them all out,
wear them with pride around and about.

There's one from the elections back in '83,
and one that says 'Go Naked' and feel fancy free.
My favourite's the one that urges world peace,
the pin has got stuck and defies its release.

My latest addition says 'I Love Sitting'
considering I'm here I think it's real fitting!
I've brought them all out, amazed how they've grown
I'm in a new world and it's called Button Zone!

Today I'll be out and wearing them all
from 'Eat Hungry Jack's' to 'Your Dick's Too Small'
An eclectic collection throughout many years,
a few that I've got even brought me to tears.

'Save the Whale' is an old one and looks pretty worn
because I still wear it and their plight I still mourn.
Some most provocative you'll be screaming at me
but I'll be wearing the one that says 'You're Such a Banshee'

Like Lady Godiva I'll walk through the town
the men may all smile but the women will frown.
All attached to my wig like Godiva's long hair
I'll dance and I'll prance as my buttons declare.

Bring them out one and all and let's see what you've got
I bet some that you're hiding are real steamy and hot!
Join in the fun, come on jangle your wares
be prepared for the flack and some minor repairs!

ahh haha..my sister collects them and some are out right inciting, she wears them ..2 or 3 at a time. what fun, and really memory keepsakes, as each represents some meaning of note. A fun read

I was sure that you had made this day up, but I see that it is real. When I read this I thought of the movie "Office Space" where the waitstaff was judged by the amount of their Flair or buttons. Your collection would be perfect. I have to admit that I haven't kept mine over the years, and now I'm sorry. It would be fun to read them and remember why I have them in the first place. Your rhyme and rhythm are perect and you even used the word Banshee. I'm impressed.

Nice job, Gaylene! It started out a bit tame but by the time it got to "Button Zone" and "Your dick's too small," it was rolling 'full speed ahead' all the way to the best stanza of all (IMHO), stanza 6 - dancing and prancing like Lady Godiva, indeed!

The rhyme is good as well as the meter although I did have to reread a couple of places to get the flow just right (stanzas 1 & 2 primarily) but it might just be me. All in all, a very humorous and well-crafted piece.

Reminded me a bit of that old Golden Earring song:
"Now I'm slippin' into a BUTTON zone" (or something like that)

I like the humour in this poem, but some of the humour I find (a bit) offensive.
Although, over all, the poem is very funny.

I love those buttons. Two of my favorites were Nuke the Gay Whales for Christ and If they can put a man on the moon why can't they put all of them there. Excellent verse and cute story.
