Marionette

~Marionette~

Such a loose transgression you've made; tying my strings...

These strings of mine; controlled by your every move.
Without them I am motionless, is what you believe.
A puppet beyond reason, life, and feeling.
A meaningless being; moved by its owner.
A painted smile upon the wood.
A fake mortality facade.
A false personification; the dancer in strings.

I will not be handled in this manner; an entertainment piece.
You've promised no evils of this world.
To protect me from wrong doings of heartless man.
To love and care for me without fear and regret.
A broken promise of such eloquence.
Shattering my heart; pieces by the hundreds.
You'll never know just how much it hurts...until it happens to your own.
To feel knotted to the point of suffocation.

To be unloved.

After oceans of tears in blue cascades, my arms are now free.
Free to do as they please.
Free for the scissors to cut me away from those knots.
You've broken me for the last time.
It will not happen again.

Did you ever really love me?
Or was I only...your marionette...

- Domino - Scott S.

Author notes

I wrote this poem in response to my feelings after I found out that my ex was cheating on me with about 20 other people. However, I'm much better off without him now. This poem is very personal to me, and still remains to be Dani's favorite.
