Rape Schedule

They say that
1 out of every 3 women
will be the victim
of attempted
or completed
Rape.

Well,
I've never really been lucky
So i figure
it's a question of
when will i be raped
and not
will I?

Because out of you,
and I
and whoever reads this poem next,
assuming you're a woman,
one of us
is screwed
(No pun intended)
So why not me?

I have to wonder,
Who will my rapist be?
What will he look like?
How much will he hurt me?
Do i know him already?
Or will he be someone new?
Is he even a man?
Could I be raped by a woman?
Will i be manipulated,
or assaulted?

Maybe I should ask around,
After all,
Majority of molestation victims say
they knew their attacker

Next get together maybe,
or family reunion
I should go around
and ask people
"Do you have any intention of raping me?
Just asking because,
I want to be prepared or
perhaps persuade you to be
less violent then you are intending."

I think that I've always known might happen
I think that all women know
After all,
How many of us live around a
Rape schedule?

I mean really
think about it.
How many of you are guilty
of walking in a parking lot
with your keys out
in a defensive position?
Or unlock your car
from the button on your keys
to prevent having your back turned
to a potential predator?

How many of you won't
walk alone at night?
But you'll walk alone
during the day
What are your reasons?
Are you afraid of the dark?
Or is it more than that?

How many of you
watch how you dress
In order to prevent attracting
the attention of someone
who might hurt you?
Or separate yourself
from the "creepy" guy
on the bus?
Why is he more dangerous
then the man sitting next to you?

Constantly,
subconsciously and consciously
we think of ways to avoid
a probable,
inevitable
event.

Maybe we should start
raping our rapist back
making sure we ambush them
with a sodomized intended fury
So that they will know
how it feels
to walk around
living your life
in a constant fear
of being
fucked.

What do you think?

    yup

empowering it is! it really is. but dont think of yourself as unlucky.. you have just as much luck as anyone. just have faith in the future ans everything that happens will only make you stronger.

It's not meant to be hateful or hurtful. It's supposed to bring attention to the fact that rape happens so often in this society that it's starting to become something that's predictable. That's messed up. So sorry if some of my sarcastic tactics offended you, it wasn't meant to. It's supposed to bring attention to women the way that they've been taught to avoid rape as if it happening to them is their fault. Why are we avoiding rape when rape is something that happens to us? Not something we walk into. People who rape (majority being men, but not all) should be the ones lectured and taught to stop fucking raping people and disrespecting people and their bodies and limits. Its supposed to make you think, not hurt anyone. This poem was written to empower.
