playing Romeo and Juliet

I fell in love with you,
As you fell in love with me.
You loved someone else,
And I was left out in the dust.
Then, a glimmer of hope started to arise,
As you looked me in the eyes.
The look on your face when you saw me,
Made my heart race and my soul sing.
I looked at you and fell for you instantly.
Looking in your face, looking for an answer,
That you could possibly feel the same way that I was feeling.
I feel like we're playing Romeo and Juliet.

My parents forbade me see you.
Yours did the same.
You snuck out anyways just to see me,
And to proclaim your love for me.
From my balcony, we made an eternal promise of love,
And the promise of marriage,
So we could prove our parents wrong.
I feel like we're playing Romeo and Juliet.

Every night you'd leave, I'd cry,
Because our parents bade us not even try.
I loved you so, but they didn't care.
Everytime it was mentioned, I got an evil stare.
My father banished you,
For all eternity.
The time spent without you by my side,
Caused so much misery.
I feel like we're playing Romeo and Juliet.

You eventually convinced my parents,
That you love me like you do.
With that, they let you return.
When I saw you coming from afar,
I ran to you, and threw myself into your arms.
You kissed me sporadically and then you stopped out of the blue.
I then saw the sight I've been dying to see.
You got down on one knee and you pulled out a ring.
You asked me the oh-so-famous question.
I asked how you could do that with my parents knowing.
You then told me that you talked to them about it,
And how they approved.
With tears filling my eyes like grass is drenched with dew,
I said "yes I do."
And we lived happily ever after,
As Romeo and Juliet
