Hydra

"All men by nature desire to know."
by Aristotle, from "Metaphysics". *

Serpentine canyon road
Wet with todays cloudy load
Charged with lightning
That stormy night
Volkswagon hydroplaning
Left and right
Would we survive this stormy night?

This poem is based on an actual experience which happened one stormy night, many years ago, driving down Ogden Canyon (Utah) after leaving Evanston, Wyoming

Them roads can be tricky at the best of times but just give it a touch of water, ice or snow and away we go, sliding all over the place and maybe if we are lucky, make it home in one piece. I love your piece for although short, It did indeed tell us a little story about that night. Glad to know that it all worked out well otherwise we wouldn't be sitting here reading this. I like the title of this piece very much. It somehow always reminds me of a mystical being. Thanks for sharing.

Aye, indeed it 'twas that night! But we had a good dinner at a fine steak house in Evanston, Wyoming, so it was worth the trip.

This poem sounds like a very scary experience and you capture that feeling very well. The brevity of the piece most certainly reflects the unexpectedness and brevity of the experience. I think you have penned a very fine work of art, indeed. Keep it up!

Wow, that must have been hair raising. It frightened me reading about it. liked the Aristotle quote too.
