The morning slows to a crawl
As my mind rushes past
A million thoughts
A million wishes
Too swift for me to grasp
Fleeting and beautiful
Specters of another life
A reason for another line
My sanctuary in clarity
If only for a minute's time
I cannot cease the sweating palms
Nor the grinding of my teeth
But sanity is but a price to pay
For this longing to make a change
(One I know I'll never make)
The time it seems to have ceased
Over Darnielle's contemplation
Of lives he has envisioned
Within his moments of serenity
(An escapist's paradise)
The morning is frozen now
As my mind crashes down
A million prayers
A million fables
Too faded for me to grasp
Fleeting and beautiful
Specter's of forgotten lives
A crying for another line
My sanctuary in make-believe
If only for a minute's time
Author notes
It's amazing what doctors will give college students for "concentration". I feel like a coke addict again, and I'm taking something legal for christ's sake. Ritalin is an evil drug, and railing it is even worse... but what the hell, eh?
Enjoy?

In some ways I think 'legal drugs' can be worse 'cos we can convince ourselves its o.k(I know, I've been there).Love the words you use, there is a scary beauty in your poem. Thought it was excellent.Montey
