I closed my eyes at the end of a day
that wandered from a time long ago
to the saddest ways of an endless
goodbye;
and in a glimpse that I would gladly thank
if only could whisper the words
a vision that cannot be held, but seems to touch me.
And saw you, not as I ever did
not as you ever were, but in a sense
in which I think you saw yourself:
when your quiet eyes would tell a story
soft smile beguile a room, and your
face was the lofted arch of a cathedral
where your voice rose like prayers
I have no more tears to give
the deep well of sorrows are not for me
my voice has left an echo there
that rose far above, reached for blue sky
enchanted an eastern star to come near.
You
left me with your songs, and I am filled;
no room for regret, just grateful now
that lives thrown into a sea of time, coalesced
and distilled; condensed into a droplet of love
that turned stormed waters into sunshine days
and air to balmy nights, joyful air; and the
peace that finds my tired eyes
at close of a too long day, so simply has you in it.

I don't try to explain my dreams or moods any more, tried and never could, but sometimes it is what comes out in the poetry..Thank you so much for your kind words...always welcomed...H

Those who have touched us so deeply, leaving a lovely feeling inside will never be too far away, no matter how high in Heaven they might be.
This is a beautiful poem to remember someone you keep in your heart

I have always believed that people come in and out of our lives, as they should. We have a responsibility to embrace them, love them, and let them go when the time for "goodbye" stands ready. Your poem is somber, realistic, and touches the reader within. I do so miss those who enchanted my living sometimes but I smile in knowing that whatever it is I thought they did for me, I did for them as well. Barbara is fortunate to have things spelled out to her in this measure. What a fine work of poetry, a great tribute!
Much Love ♥

"Condensed into a droplet of love, that turned the stormed waters into sunshine days"
Peace of mind in knowing that the past remains with a song in your heart, as memories come flooding back to the present. Not a tear, just all that remains of that love.
So simple indeed! Lovely penning PK...
I hope Barbara enjoys this poem!

Your third and final two stanzas were my favorites of all the worthiness in this solidly beautiful penning, Poet Man. Ahhh, I hope she reads it, at least someday. What woman wouldn't softly sigh at knowing she'd left such a delicate and lovely imprint on a man's heart? Gorgeous.

There is a space of names
corridor of elation nomenclature
where the coming together of souls
flamed into one fire of love
that is fed by such lovely memories
and never can be extinguished
by gracious tears.
