In my life
I have been thin
I have drained of my color
and striven for a blandness
an erasure of all race
and culture
Straightened my hair
to look appealing for you
Believed I could be beautiful
If you believed I was
But only then
I fell in love with Christ
Devoting myself
to a Mormon world
Following your lead
I denied myself happiness
because I'm homosexual
and I have been straight
all for you
But life put the colors
back into my life
and life put the black back into my race
but the curl back on my head
and the weight back on my hips
And showed me love
in place of religion
I wondered who I was
until I finally looked in a mirror
and found myself

its good to be true with yourself and i guess i can see why you thought religion was bad.religion is bad actually, but God is a good guy and he loves you and knows the real you because he created you

Amazing honesty and contentment. I think loving yourself is always mandatory before loving someone else.
You should be proud of this write, it's very good.
