Love lays here
...blackened
by the stench of alcohol
plaguing your body
drowning You, your heart and conscience
slowly... killing you
these bruises I bear
are not by the one I love
these black circles on my skin
are by the stranger....
The stranger that robbed me
of any laughter and joy
The stranger that stole
my virginity on our wedding night
Using me...
Beating me
Leaving me broken...
This is the stranger that returns every night
sucking the bottle like a baby does its milk...
You resurface in the mornings,
with debilitating migraines
you say you're sorry
You rain love and promises
you rain red roses down on me
only now, I see...
You're raining black roses
Tainted by your shadow

Haunting
Disturbing and dark but beautiful in a sick way. Imagery was intense and those images aren't beautiful they are messed up and wrong but the way you describe it is darkly beautiful. I really enjoyed reading this one, even though it pained me to do so. People can be so cruel, but the last few lines are incredible. One of the best that I've read so far actually
