I Can't Wait Forever

I stand waiting for him
He promised he would show
But hes late....again
My spot on his list
Has always been fairly low

I stare at the glistening sky
and its greatest splendor greets me
A flicker of the Palest moonlight
It shines down on me sullenly
Just barely enough to see

The tears start to fall
Gliding down my cheeks gently
I stare at the moon
Waiting for an invisible father
I cry to myself softly

It was my own fault
I should never have expected his love
He didn't want me then
He couldn't love me now
His presence ill always be deprived of

I say goodbye
To a flicker of the palest moonlight
As a cloud rolls across the darkened sky
Sheilding its feint light
Hiding the moon from my sight

The moon said goodnight
Now I shall too
Leaving vacant memories
For another wait
Though me and him were always through
